New TalentWhy did you make this work:
I made this as part of my Masters Stage project for my MA. The story is a personal one, based on my memories of going to football matches with my Dad, and shows the beauty of a parent-child relationship and small traditions that people hold so dear. I also wanted to tell the story of the important role that football can play it family life and bringing people together.
How was the illustration used: The illustration is intended to be a children's picture book.
How did you make this work: I love mono-print and wanted to make something that really highlighted the incredible textures and tones it can achieve. I used black mono-print on warm paper to give a sense of the atmosphere. I did most of the artwork freely and created the compositions as I worked as this brought more life to it. After, I added smaller details with Indian ink.

Biography:
Zoë Ellison is an illustrator and printmaker from the UK. Her work is a mixing pot of little childhood memories and the weird and wonderful things she observes daily. She likes to put herself in the shoes of her characters and remember how big, scary and exciting the world seems to someone so small. She tries and conveys this with a paintbrush; sometimes using gouache or acrylic, but usually doing mono-print.
