Why did you make this work:
As a female, I realize periods play an important role in females' lives and wanted to draw something about that. I even interviewed some of my female friends about what they feel about their periods. Then I drew three illustrations in this series.

How was the illustration used:
I hope my illustration can be not just only portfolio pieces, but can also be posters, gallery works or advertising campaign of tampons or pads. In public places, people always avoid or even shy about talking about menstruation, but I think it is a normal physiological phenomenon for women. Therefore, I drew this set of illustrations to arouse people's thinking about women.

How did you make this work:
I use procreate and photoshop to create this series of illustrations.

Biography:
Xintong Yang is an illustrator at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in Minneapolis, Minnesota (expected: 2020). Xintong received her BFA in Animation from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in Guangdong Province, China. After she graduated, she worked in Morpheus Animation Studio, Zhuhai, Guangdong Province in 2015-2016, Responsibilities included illustration drawing, character designing. Awards received include the 2019 Jurors' choice awards, Made at MCAD group exhibition, 2019 Honorable Mention, 3x3 International Illustration Show, the MFA Trustees' Scholarship at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, In addition, her work has been exhibited in Minneapolis. She intended the group show Break Every Rule which opened last September. And now Dawn is a Teaching Assistant of foundation Drawing, Minneapolis College of Art and Design.
