Esther Choi
An Asian-American Story

Editorial

Un-commissioned | New Talent

Why did you make this work:
I wanted to represent some of the struggles an Asian American woman might face, as an Asian American woman myself. From beauty standards to behavioral standards expected from them within their households and the very society they live in. I also wanted to challenge myself by taking on both design & illustration.

How was the illustration used:
This illustration was made to add to my portfolio but a piece that holds a lot of sentimental value. As an illustrator who started out strictly traditional, adopting digital skills was difficult. However, once I was able to work digitally I wanted to learn how to design as well. I wanted to showcase my abilities as an illustrator and a competent designer.

How did you make this work:
These illustrations were created through procreate and the designs were put together through illustrator.
