Why did you make this work:
My editors Miri and Kate found my work on Instagram. at that time I was still unpublished and not very confident. Together we unpacked the text (written by Bernadette Green), and Miri and Kate supported me to find my picture book groove, which took a while! I hadn't worked much in colour before, so we tried several different methods and styles before settling on copic marker.

How was the illustration used:
This is a picture book written by a previously unpublished author, Bernadette Green. It is published by Scribe, scheduled for release in April 2020.

How did you make this work:
The lines are rendered with fineliner, and the colour with copic marker. I had to draw the colour on a separate layer in case we needed to edit anything digitally, so I worked with a lightbox. Then we scanned everything and edited it together in Photoshop.

Biography:
Anna Zobel is an illustrator and children's book author based in Melbourne, Australia. Her first illustrated book 'The Most Ungrateful Girl in the World' was released in August 2019. This year her first illustrated picture book 'Who's Your Real Mum?' will be released by Scribe, and in 2020 Anna is publishing a middle grade series she has both written and illustrated. Anna also illustrates for clients such as World Vision and Voiceworks.
