Helena Covell
Jumble Wood

Commissioned | New Talent

Why did you make this work:
Originally, I never intended 'Jumble Wood' to be anything more than a zine I made at University to explore how to feel well when struggling with my mental health. When I discovered it positively impacted others, I set about getting it published for a wider audience.

How was the illustration used:
In print- books.

How did you make this work:
The narrative was adapted for audiences of 3-5 years old, and became a search for an elusive 'happiness'. The characters explore the world, searching for happiness, only to discover they'd found it within each other. It allowed me to scratch the surface of creating a world, with the intention of using it to explore complex subjects in a way that was easily accessible to the intended audience.
