Larissa Honsek
Myths, Monsters & Maschines (exhibition work)

Un-commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
James Turner (@theopaxstone) and @northerncontemporary (Toronto) celebrated in September 2018 the release of "Theo Paxstone and the Dragon of Adyron", a novel from James ... they invited artists to join the steampunk show and I was very happy to be part of it. We all interpreted the Topic: Myths, Monsters & Maschines. I created the wizard and the owl.

How was the illustration used:
Artprint in the exhibition

How did you make this work:
The wizard and the owl are mixed media artworks, this was the process behind the scenes: Step 1: clay sculpting with metal elements Step 2: photographing in the light tent with a Nikon D600 (professional camera) Step 3: postproduction in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Sketch, adding digital drawing Step 4: printing for the exhibition ;)

Biography:
Larissa Honsek is a Berlin-based graphic designer, photographer and illustrator who loves to explore the intersections of these fields. Her tribe of bright and colorful characters is born out of experiments with a multitude of mixed media elements: clay sculpting, photography, digital and analogue collaging, painting, drawing, printing, scanning… Larissas love for analogue pinhole photography also takes her on a second, very different route towards characters, no less colorful but decidedly more mysterious. Larissa is currently working as a graphic design Freelancer and Co-Founder of “NINO kreativ”, a small company that produces kids products, to stay creative.
