Yukai Du
An Anthology vol.2

Un-commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
In publishing, the word 'anthology' is usually used for a collection of literary works like poems, short stories, songs, etc. In 2017, I created a collection of short animated images called 'An Anthology vol.1'. In 2018, I got inspired by my trip to Iceland that I decided to continue another collection with still surreal but more dramatic landscapes, it's called 'An Anthology vol.2'.

How was the illustration used:
Prints

How did you make this work:
I combined real life elements like mountains, rivers, waterfalls, people with some surreal elements like hand-shape rocks, red and blue palette. I think hands are the most expressive parts of human body after facial expressions, it's the perfect element to merge with the landscape I saw and represent the nature in my mind.
