The Girl who Couldn't Wake Up.

Why did you make this work:
This article is about a Swedish school girl who fell asleep for 34 years and 32 days, and no one could wake up. When she did eventually wake up, the girl had not aged and was nicknamed “The sleeping beauty.” We love your bold, colourful and humorous style and would like you to depict this story in the most imaginative way possible, so feel free to make the scene as strange as you'd like!

How was the illustration used:
Full page image alongside the story.

How did you make this work:
I provided 5 sketches for the story and the one they chose was the most conservative of the concepts, but the main message was 'the weirder the better'. I wanted to turn her bedroom into a landscape that displayed, both temporally and spacially, all the bizarre things that went on in the story, so I made her central and played around with sizes, colours and characters.
