Andrew Archer
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? and A Scanner Darkly, published by The Folio Society

Commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
For The Folio Society's special dual edition of two seminal Philip K Dick novels, 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?' and 'A Scanner Darkly', Andrew Archer illustrated the cover and internal artwork for 'A Scanner Darkly'. Fellow Début Art represented artist Chris Skinner created the artwork for 'Androids'. Art direction from Raquel Leis Allion.

How was the illustration used:
On and in the published book

How did you make this work:
Substance D - the drug at the heart of the book - is derived from a blue flower, and so Andrew used this colour cue to add emphasis to the binding. For the internal illustrations, he focused on embracing the collision of the surreal and the real that occurs in the novel.
