Federico 01

Ilu Ros : Federico

Ilu was commissioned to write and illustrate a book about the life and work of Federico García Lorca, a poet and playwright from Spain who was executed during the Spanish Civil War, accused for his socialist views and his homosexuality.

She wanted to explore how illustrations could collaborate with Federico’s poetic imagery and the delight his presence evoked in those who knew him.

The illustrations were created using watercolours, colour pencils, graphite, ink and sometimes digital collage.

Ilu Ros is a freelance illustrator based in Madrid.

Anton Selleshii : The Snows of Kilimanjaro by Hemingway Illustrations

This atmospheric collection of illustrations are inspired by a collection of different short stories by Ernest Hemingway, written in 1930-61 and translated and republished by Old Lion Publishing House in Ukraine in 2021.

The illustrations were created from oil paintings on plastic plates and then post-production was done via Adobe Photoshop.

Anton Selleshi is a Ukranian graphic designer and artist, who studied in the Lviv National Academy of Arts’ Department of Graphic Design.

Andriana Chunis : DOLCHEVITA

“Dolcevita” is a debut book with 13 stories by Roman Malynovsky. The author’s heroes are young people, who are trying to savor each moment of their lives. The stories contain danger and pleasure, mysticism and geopolitics, signs, and symbols.

Andriana was tasked with creating a book cover, but she was so fascinated by the author’s text that she offered to illustrate each of the stories separately.

The illustrations were created digitally in black and white, with a bright green accent as the unifying colour.

Andriana Chunis is an illustrator working and living in Lviv, Ukraine.
