Extended Collective Licence application

The Copyright Licensing Agency (CLA) have applied to government to operate an Extended Collective Licensing (ECL) scheme and the AOI are broadly in support of this. Payback is money distributed to visual artists via DACS and this money comes from the CLA’s current licesing scheme which allows organisations to photocopy copyrighted works. The ECL would extend this licence to include all creators.

The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) have asked us to comment on the application through a formal consultation process. They will listen to what we (and others) have to say to inform the final decision on whether the scheme is approved or not.
