I am an Illustrator, designer and character artist from Manchester. I work predominantly with pen and acrylic ink, though I have been known to turn my hand to gouache when a heavier sense of colour is needed. My portfolio features fairy tale, Gothic, grungy urban and historical illustrations, alongside striking character designs.
I have been drawing with every spare minute I have for as long as I can remember, but before finally delving into my true calling as an Illustrator I studied Archaeology and Anthropology, and then Art History at The University of Manchester. Following this I worked in galleries, an auction house and then in business.
However I always felt a need to be drawing, so I spruced myself up with a new and improved portfolio and started putting my work back out there. Less than a year later I was offered a trial with an Illustration agent, so I made the move to working full time as an Illustrator.
Playing far too many video games as a teenager and reading fantasy, sci-fi and manga has certainly had an influence on shaping the style and character of my work, as has my keen interest in history - particularly of the ancient and medieval East, and eighteenth century Europe. There's something about the rich aesthetics of these which draws me to them.
